So I got this 805 chip running on an ECS c19 nforce410 board cooled by a Thermaltake cnp9500 or something with the funky LED fan and the vertical fins and the 75cfm...

I have not pushed this thing to the limit and have not gotten it to crash yet... All I want is to run it at between 166 and 175FSB (3.33 to 3.5Ghz)... which works fine on first try... I don't need the heat or the extra juice this thing needs when clocked higher, judging by THG's wattage graphs...

My question is... What voltage should I set the cpu core to? Right now I have it set to auto, and its fine... Speedfan shows it at between 1.26 and 1.36... Should I leave it on auto or what?

Also... not being quite in the loop on all this as I should, what apps do you guys recommend for accurately reading voltages and stuff in windows? How about for burn-in? How about for overclocking? I'm not too thrilled with ntune5... It doesn't save my settings reliably it seems...

TIA

Well it's always best to try stock voltage first(leave it on auto). Then run dual prime95 for stability testing. If it errors out, try a little more voltage. I am using 1.45v for 3.6ghz on my 805, 55c load using Scythe Ninja.

Are you using a fan with your Ninja?

I've decided to stick with a 3.5GHZ now and as for voltage, I'm on auto. Cpu-x shows my voltage always hovering around 1.22-1.264... Though rmclock shows the default vcore should be like 1.36 or so... My temp hovers between 41 and 44c no load...

I've stress-tested it using nvidia's nTune, but I guess I'll try prime95 over the weekend. Thanks.

Yeah, I am using the fan with the ninja, it's a nice quiet 120mm fan, but definatly getting the job done. I also have a 120mm intake and 120mm exhaust fan.
