803MHz AMD 64 3400

I recently purchased a Gigabyte K8NS Pro with the new nForce 250 chipset, AMD 64 3400 processor, and 512MB of ram from Crucial CAS 2. Everything went together fairly easily, but when I got into the OS and went to the system properties window, the "General" tab reflected a AMD 64 3400 processor, 512MB of RAM and "803MHz" ?!!!? What gives ? I tried to go into the BIOS and change the multiplier frequency and bus speed, but the system would not start up with any other settings. In fact a few times I could not get into the BIOS. I had to manually reset it to get in ??? What am I missing ?😕

Cool 'n' Quiet slows down the processor when it's idle so that your processor runs cooler. It automatically speeds up when needed (like if you start a game).

Although, 800MHz, seems a little slow for a Cool 'n' Quiet slowdown, my 3000 (2Gz) only drops to 1000MHz in idle.

Try running a stress test or bench mark or something... something to put a load on the processor and see if it's still running slow.

IMHO, if it is just Cool 'n' Quiet, leave it enabled, it keeps the processor cooler, and I don't think there's any noticable lag when it starts to ramp up again once you start a game (the 3000 seems tons faster than my old 1800 no matter what it's doing)
