802.1x switch for wired network authentication

Hello,

Just a quick question about 802.1x authentication with RADIUS server.
I know that I will need switches that support 802.1x standard.
But can I use single 802.1x switch (switchA) connect to switches (switchX) that does not have 802.1x standard and have the clients connect to the switchX to request authentication when connecting to the network?

Thank you,

Leon

Yes, it's just the switchport itself, the switch being the authenticator. Everything outside the switch isn't even aware of it going on.
