Can you use two access points to connect networks? A friend of mine lives in an apartment complex across a highway from me, and we want to connect our networks. We both have Netgear MR814 routers, and on getting big antennas for them, as long as we can connect with access points.

Thanks
Garrett.

To Bridge two networks you need a Wireless components that can be configured as a bridges.

While the components are configured as a Bridge, they cannot be used for local Wireless. (I doubt that your Netgear can be configured as a bridge).

So! You need to buy two Access Points (AP) that can be configured as a Bridge. Plug one to a regular port on your Router. Plug the other into a regular port on your friend?s Router. Configure the APs as Bridges. Put them in windows that have with line of view between the two of you, and pending on distance and other environmental variables it should work.

Such a project would go for $75 a person, if you need special Antennae, add $50-70 more per person.

On Wireless Modes: Wireless Network - Configuration Modes.
