RC cars don't need that kind of bandwidth, there's a reason they are as simple as they are.

802.11b hardware is still quite expensive, it'd kinda be defeating the purpose.

If you're going to be outfitting it with that kind of bandwidth, use it. Put a color camera on it, two way audio, etc.

GPS? It's accuracy is limited to like 10 ft or something, so it prolly wouldn't be handy except maybe as a theft-location system. Tracking beacon would probably give you better accuracy, but linking it up to some sort of screen to show you where it is in relation to you would be tough.

I think the army let it have an accuracy of 1 ft for something like that , correct me if i'm wrong.

yea, they changed the GPS system so that any regular unit would have a 1ft or so acuracy. it used to be that it was made to be off by a certain amount so that it would not be used in misiles from other countries. Now I think they have it set up where they can hit a button and it makes it inaccurate again.

what is the range for 802.11b, or whatever it is called? it seems like you would want to find something that has more range....just a suggestion

Hehe I remember when I was a kiddie (14 year old punk as opposed to the 26 year old punk I am today) I would put bottle rockets on top of my r/c car, hide behind the bushes or across the street, use a punt as a time delay thing which was pretty darned accurate timing wise, I shot off a few bottle rockets at the high school ... one time a bottle rocket accidentally flew into an open window (it was after school) I never ran so hard in my life!
