Hey Guys, I am in market for one of these hot wirless solutions, need to get rid of the long cables. I was wondering if anyone has tried the various access points and what their opinions are about them. I am interested in the linksys wap11, and the lucent orinoco accesspoints. If anyone has any info, please share..also if you suggest any other products...thanks much!

I have (and use) the Linksys WAP. I am very happy with it. I have set up in my basement (on top of my desk hutch.) I can get "excellent" signal strength on my main floor and "good" strength in my bed room up stairs. I have been very happy with it.

If you are looking at the Lucent product, might as well spend a few dollars more and get the best product out there, that being Cisco's Aironet line.

I've installed these for clients and they work magnificently...

Cisco's products almost always win top honors in wireless product reviews. I know they won PC Magazine and Network World's editor's choice awards.

They are the most pricey outta the bunch unfortunately.

Thanks for the input, considering the lack of stock on the linksys access point, I decided to go with the lucent orinoco from outpost.com, should get it sometime this week!

Hey Guys,

I'm currently running a Peer to Peer network using 2 linksys wireless PC cards with a Dell Dimension PC (~800MHZ) and a Xybernaut wearable computer (233MMX/192MB RAM/2MB Video RAM) @ 3ft apart. I'm attempting to stream video from the mounted USB camera (320x240) on the HMD using MS's Window Media Player. I'm getting poor results (1MB/s throughput/10 second delay/1fps). But I can send data at 8MB/s. I'm wondering is this is a Windows Media Player issue or a Xybernaut wearable PC limitation. The connections and setup are all correct. Any thoughts? I just received the Access Point, I'm goint to try it today to see if it makes a difference. Thanks
