1.975v??? I only have it upto 1.850
did you have the overvolt jumper on?
It's not stable for me whevever I had the overvolt jumper on.
 
SupermanCK yea its 1.975v with the overvolt jumper / 1.85v without it.
im not using the overvolt jumper tho - its unstable.
1.85v is more then enough - i dont recommend using more.

I tried this..First tried to drop the wire in the socket.. and got....1.2V as default V and I could not change it! Then tried the lasso method and the V remained as default (1.5-1.7V)...
What am I doing wrong?
 
yes..thats what I tried.. will try again later Whats more interesting is that it worked at 1.2V. I didn't do any prime 95 though.
 
That looked pretty easy. so i just twist a pair of fine copper wire on the two pins? seems too easy 🙂
does it matter what gage the wire is?

Also... VH used this power supply. Should I get this power supply or a Antec 430watt "true power" power supply?
 
I used a strand of wire from an old floppy cable. It is as fine as a hair and is kind of a pain to work with, but I didn't figure it would cause any problems with being too big.
 
Just an update, I tried it again. and it works now. I did put the wire in socket like Thug suggested.
 
Ohhhhh so you guys are making a small U then putting the U in the two holes where the two pins meet? so you not wraping it around the pins like most people, but dropping the wire in the socket?

Okay..

btw... is there enough room to do this? id think the hole would be tight.

TheLizardMan yep thats what we are doing.
i tried to wrap the 2 pins for almost an hour.
i didnt feel confident that it was safe.
then i remembered that someone suggesting the "U" wire in the socket - i was done in 2 minutes 😀

seems safer to me.
 
If I'm reading this correctly--to clarify again--you're taking a very thin piece of wire and sticking it into the socket? Now, is this wire VERY thin, because it seems to be that if it wasn't the pins for the chip would not fit into the socket...?

Hahaha...after reading all this post i have to confess...I struggled alittle bit also...i just use a single strand of my big fan wire...very very thin...and i didn't have it too long either...so i lost 1 somewhere on the carpet before I finally got it in...and i almost lost the second one...it jumped out when i was twisting it...but it all worked out...just more complicated while trying to put that sucker in without the wire falling out
 
THUGSROOK I have a question for you.

Now if the default is 1.7v with the wire trick,does that mean that in the bios you cant go under 1.7v to 1.50 if you decide to not overclock so much?

Is the only way to get back 1.50v is to remove the heatsink & remove the wire?

Good call on dropping in a U shaped wire in the socket,i cant see myself trying to lasso those tiny pins.😉
