800XL or 800XT

I have recently decided to invest in an ATI radeon 800XL after reading lots of reviews, etc. I can get one of these from $265 to $300. Then I notice that Dell and some other vendors are offering the ATI All in Wonder 800XT for approximately the same price. So with the price being almost equal, which is the better video card?
Appreciate your input.

AGP or PCIe?
for PCIe, X800XL for $260 sounds like an unbeatable price compared to x800xt.
For AGP, you can pick up X800xt AIW for about $30 more than X800xl after MIR.

Also 6800Gt is awfully close in this price range (for AGP). It could be a better alternative depending on which games you play. My suggestion would be to wait till june 21st until Geforce 7 is released. If it becomes widely available, possible price drops will follow.

Review of the cards

The XT is faster than the XL. If you find an All-in-Wonder XT for the same price as a normal XL, then you should definitely go for the XT.

If the prices are different, then you'll have to make the call based on what you are comfortable spending.

I have an X800XL and the performance is find for me (but the card has overheating problems, so I'm going to start a thread to see if that is a common problem).

-D'oh!

Hmm not had any problems with overheating on my Ati branded X800Xl and boy is it a nice card. Maybe its the company you got yours from?

Might I ask your brand?

Aside from speed the XL and the XT are basically the same card. They have the same number of pipes and all the same 3D features. And like AnnoyedGrunt, my card is warm, but I wouldn't say it overheats. It can hit 80C while running RTHDRIBL but that's a safe temp. as far as I can tell.
