Once ICS comes out, the iOS 5 advantage goes away. Honeycomb's browser is already as fast as iOS 5, but those optimizations won't make it to smartphones until ICS.

it's silly when the iPhone is faster.

when the competition is faster, it's important.
Its silly if anyone is really hanging their hat on this really being some example of the iphone being 'faster'.

A couple of seconds difference? Questionable details like the SGS2 not being on wifi (I know my DX isnt on wifi when 3G is displayed) flash content, etc.

I guess some people have different standards of what's important.

and with ICS using OMAP as a reference platform it's going to be interesting which phones get upgraded and what the performance will be

vlingo is just one choice of voice command for Android. The built in Google voice command is pretty damned good. The only thing I use it for is voice-activated music choice in the car, and of course voice commands for dialing/SMS/opening apps while in the car. Works amazingly. If Apple does it as good, great for them, but it's not a selling point for everyone.

lol, Google voice command is an abacus compared to Siri. Siri can analyze natural language, respond, and take action based upon context. Apple doesn't do it as good as Google, they do it better, this is true AI, not predetermined commands like Google.

Anyway back to the thread. I thought its already a well known fact that A5 > Exynos. People shouldn't be surprised as the iPad2 benchmarks released months ago demolished anything else out there. With the 4S getting the same processor just downclocked, the 4S was surely going to be quick. An A5 coupled with a solid iOS5, the 4S is pretty darn fast. I find it funny that all the Android fans thumbs down Slashgear's youtube video.

There will always be faster phones, people need to get over it.

We get it. You're just another carbon copy of the typical know-nothing iPhoney. Get back to squinting at your tiny screen. :p

Drop the attitude

Gee, I'm glad you've found something to like about your iPhone. You do actually have a 4S, right? Otherwise you'd be jerking over something your iGadget doesn't even have. not that that wouldn't be typical iPhoney behavior.

What does your comment have anything to do with Siri? Google's voice commands suck compared to Siri. Period.

this is true AI
Actually it's not AI. It's speech recognition. It was already available for all iOS devices before Apple decided to shut-down the Siri app and make it an iPhone 4S exclusive.

I used the original Siri, it's not the same.

Apple has had voice commands since iOS 3. Siri is far more advanced than this.

Geeze, I notice every time Apple comes out with something, fanbois sure do get touchy.

Your comment was just you wanking off about Siri. I didn't say Siri sucked or anything, just that I personally have no real use for it, already have voice command that does exactly what I want, plus any number of other ways to have my phone work for me. (Like Tasker for instance- while you're trying to prove you're hip having a conversation with your phone, mine already does many basics things for me automatically.)

Fanbois act like it's some big deal to go "Send message to Joe. Lunch at 12pm" or "Play Pink Floyd Dark Side of the Moon" etc. etc. What, do I need to phrase basic commands like an english professor or something? Most of Google's commands are pretty straightforward and do exactly what you'd expect.

So Siri isn't a compelling reason for me to give up things like a bigger screen. It's not a compelling reason even for many iPhone4 owners to want to upgrade. I've talked to quite a few that are like, "Yeah. Meh.Whatever." My wife who has an iPhone4 couldn't possibly care less about Siri. (But then, that's typically the term is more often fanboi, not fangirl. Only geeky guys get their iPanties in a twist over things like pretending their phone is their buddy that they talk to. Most ladies seem to have better things to get bent out of shape over.)

Open the app store and search for vlingo for iPhone. Now read the comments. Plenty of iPhone4 users commenting that it works fine for them, and that they don't see a need to upgrade to a 4S. OH NOES! But you thought it was some fight to the death battle between Apple and Android!

Now continue having an argument with yourself about how amazing you think Siri is.

Again, what does that have anything to do with Siri? Google Voice commands is nothing like Siri and your uses/needs doesn't change that fact.

Is that good or bad?

The iPhone 4S Siri is much more advance than the original Siri.

And there he goes arguing with himself.

I think some folks must need all the help they can get from their phone due to their own dreadful communication skills.

So I take it "siri compose logical respose" just coughs up more predictable drivel?

Zaap, you have to understand. Everything Apple does is gold. Even if its done before, with the same results and same effect, Apple will always do it better. Yes, Android uses have had voice commands, voice searches, dictation, speech to text, etc, since Cupcake with improvements in every Android version since. But this doesn't matter. Apple does it better. They're the golden child. You'll never be able to convince an iFanatic otherwise, don't bother trying. Let them enjoy their phone and its 2009 feature set, let everyone else live in the present. :)
