800Mhz FSB CPU in a 533FSB board?

Im in a situation where I can sell my P4 2.53 for 170 dollars. I can also buy a P4 2.4 800FSB on newegg for 170 dollars shipped. Will I have better preformance if I run the 2.4 in my Asus P4T533 with the Rambus at a 3x instead of 4x and the FSB as high as it will run? I know it wont be 2.533 ghz, but it wil be ~ 2200-2400Mhz with HT enabled. Its basicly free, will I regret the trade?

My opinion, it won't be worth a damn thing unless you upgrade your mother board and memory to support a 800 Mhz. But its a good cpu to have if you are planning to upgrade the motherboard in the future.

I definitely agree with Regs, this isn't something you want to get into as you may end up having to run that CPU at far less than 2.4GHz if the mobo/RAM doesn't like high FSB.

Why not just sell your current motherboard too? You can pick up a very nice new ABIT IS7-E (Springdale) at NewEgg for $98 shipped. And for the memory... well, PC3200 is not real cheap right now, but it may be worth it if you're looking to upgrade.
