Okay quick question (I've looked at the motherboard manuals, but that says supports 533FSB - but it would say that since 800FSB wasn't even out then).

So does anyone know if the SIS655 gigabyte 8SQ800ULTRA is suited for the new P4 800FSB chipset. I've just bought a P4 2.4GHZ 533FSB and wondering if there would be any difference for this board between the two chips?

Thanks :)

Do you already have that motherboard? If you dont, get a Springdale motherboard instead (856P), it will run your 533FSB cpu that you have now and a 800FSB if you get one in the future.

If you were to use a 800FSB chip in that MB you would be overclocking the board, it might not be stable.

Yea.. I have the board already. I'll just settle with the 533fsb then, I'll be happy enough changing from a p2 233mhz (yes, that is processor speed) to this new system anyway.

Thanks for the reply btw :)

No, there are no SiS 655 motherboards that support 800MHz FSB:

Unfortunately we were unable to find a SiS 655 motherboard (and that includes the Gigabyte SINXP1394 used in our 800MHz FSB preview) that could run an 800MHz FSB CPU, with or without HT enabled. We were also unable to find an E7205, 850E, or SiS R658 motherboard that could run these same 800MHz FSB processors. There's a possibility that your motherboard vendor will release a BIOS update to enable 800MHz FSB support on these boards, but we've been told this is highly unlikely, so don't hold your breath. Therefore, users should not expect their current SiS 655, SiS R658, E7205, or 850E motherboard to run an official 800MHz FSB Pentium 4 processor.
