$800 Gaming PC Build

Looks good, but you can save about another $100 or more by shopping around and by looking at used/refurbished parts.

For example, I saw an amd64 3000+ 939 retail in the forsale forums for $100 shipped. The same hard drive is $7-10 cheaper (shipped) from other stores, or you could get a maxtor for about $25 less (pricewatch.com). And newegg has a refurbished 6600gt video card for $135 in their refurb section. Also I recall seeing refurbished 939 motherboards at newegg for as low as $60.

Yeah, I know a lot of people are afraid of refurbs/used things, but I'm cheap and can't help it 🙂 And as long as it has at least some warranty or I'm buying from a reputable seller, I'm never afraid of any problems 🙂
 
Well, since stability and longevity were a priority, that means refurbished parts are out of the question. I do realize that I can get some of the parts for $2-10 cheaper at other places; I just used the one newegg wish list to show everyone the parts list. For the most part newegg or zipzoomfly have the cheapest prices and I'm not really interested in a vendor with an average costumer service reputation when it is a matter of a few dollars. Using a few vendors and including shipping, the system is $830. I'm pretty much set on the parts at this point; the only question now is whether to move to a Sonata II case instead since those just came out. I'll have to see if anyone has had any experience with those yet. Thanks for the feedback everyone.
