I know I already posted this, but it was lost during the outage.

The Sampo player has loophole menus for macro disabling and region changes. The drive used in them is supposed to be pretty cheap and some have audio sync problems, but never fear if your drive goes bad all you need to do is replace it w/ a region free IDE DVD drive. IMO it is a pretty hot deal, especially since this player is on par with/ or beats the APEX players that go for 200+ w/ loopholes. Just \trying to help.

Wow, I remember posting about this...I guess my beautifully and painstakingly detailed message was lost. Doh!

At any rate, I had said that this player does have a lot of problems with the DVD Drive currently in it, so if you replace it (as the previous poster states) it would be a fine player.

Of course, I feel that if something doesn't work right out of the box, it should be avoided. $139 plus the cost of a DVD Drive (what, $75 or so?) it's no longer a good deal. Not to mention you have to find a drive that will take the front cover of the old one so it works ok.

Then again, if loopholes are important to you...well...go for it?
