My only requirement is that I need to have alot of RAM. I use photoshop and graphic programs. At least 1gig to Max 1.5gig. Thanks

I know I might catch some grief from some people here, but here it goes:

The are lots of people who ask this question every day. Most at least have taken the time to read a couple reviews here before making a post.

If you go here and enter a search word such as "building", it will pull up a lot of threads where this was already discussed.

I usually try to help people with questions as much as I can, but I or anybody else shouldn't do everything in your quest to build a PC. We can offer advice on parts and configurations, but you should really take a look at a few reviews and see what items interest you, and then we can go from there.

I am not trying to be mean or scare you off, I am just trying to help you find what you are looking for.

Lastly welcome to the forums! 🙂

You could go for XP's for less but they're aren't guaranteed to work in dual cpu config. Since your doing graphic type work I thought a dual cpu setup would be good. Plus it supports agp pro in case you use one of those professional graphic cards. 64 bit pci slots also for full scsi happiness.

He said that he uses photoshop and alot of graphics programs. I believe that a P4, possibly upgraded with hyperthreading down the road, would utterly kick the 2X2000+'s ass, with hyperthreading that is. Remember the P4 3.06 article at aces? The 3.06 dominated every CPU there by a *huge* margin, and the jump to hyperthreading was bigger than the jump to SMP.
