80 Wire Cable on a Plex Burner Problem

I just got my Round ATA100 80 Wire IDE Cables from PCCables.com. I after installing them everything worked fine except that my Plextor 8/4/32 burner had a problem. It was was not being identified correctly by WIN 98SE and was being assigned a new drive letter. I tried a regular 80 wire ribbon cable with the same result. The funny thing is that the round cables worked fine on my RAID card and CD ROM. Anyone ever heard of this??
