I don't believe it's going to work for you. The way I understand it, you cannot convert an LVD drive (Ultra2, Ultra160, Ultra320) down to a 50-pin connection, even if the drive is jumped for SE mode.

Well, you can do it, but it'll completely neuter your performance. Been there. Ugghh.

Have you tried it? Actually going from an LVD drive to a non-wide slower flavor? I've gone from a wide interface to a non-wide interface without problems but my understanding that going from LVD to non-LVD will not work unless you are going to a wide interface.

I've put an LVD drive on an adapter and used it on the 50 pin bus a number of times. Some drives will adjust automatically, some have a jumper to force SE negotiation. If that jumper setting is there, it's more stable to use it. Some won't work at all. The drive is definitely slowed down. You will also need to terminate the end of the cable, because most LVD drives are not capable of being self terminated.

Using adapters can be problematic, but it can work.

redbeard1 -- got it right. I choked my U160 drive to to a 20sync going to 50pin, but it functioned.

Another thing to be wary of when using adapters, even if you have a LVD capable card, not all SCA adapters support LVD. I ran into two completely different and unusable adapters before finding one that specifically stated that it supported it (U160 in my case). After that, the drive worked like a charm so all hope is not lost for ramike64;).
