80 Conductor Cable

I currently have my HD and DVD connected to an IDE slot not the Ultra ATA slot. When I boot up, it says I'm not using a 80 conductor cable. Is that a problem? Also, in BIOS, it shows that my drives are running at ATA33. Anyone see problems here?

Thanks,
Simon

The reason your drives show as ATA33 is because your not using an 80 conductor cable. Things will still work, just not up to thier potential.

You are effectively running an ATA66 or ATA100, at ATA33. You need to get the proper cable.

:DAh, Yup, Your using a 40 wire 40 pin cable instead of the 80 wire 40 pin cable, required for ATA/66, ATA/100 HD's, John
