80 and 120mm case fans

I've got a few computers here that I want to disassemble and clean out, the fans (10 total) are NASTY! Would it do any horrible damage to the motors if I gave them a bath? I'd let them dry completely before using them again, obviously.

If so, can anybody recommend some good motor-friendly techniques for cleaning fans?
