and little more than 1 year at 3Dxxx before this...

Anyone still remember the Abit BE6 setting for that all time favorite C300@450?

Or that ever famous buy.com 17" monitor classaction lawsuit? ( I still have that $15 check somewhere )

Edit: I meant BH6. (damn, I am getting old)
2nd Edit: It was 19" monitor. (what's the matter w/ me?)

No, but I remember setting the jumpers to get my Pentium 166 running at 200MHz on this POS Compaq I had lying around.

I also got a P4 1.6a into Windows at 2.6GHz on air, with PC800 RDRAM and no divider options. Stable at 2.4. I know that's not exceptional, but the funny thing about it was that I couldn't get it any higher than 2.2 stable in my Antec case, then I switched to a case that my roommate won at a LAN party and suddenly the sky was the limit.

man those old P4. 1.6a were great. i remember a few people claiming 3gig with them.

i kept mine at around 2.0-2.4. even though it seemed stable at 2.4.

don't think i have seen a chip since the 1.6a that was as overlcockable.

edit: come to think of it i remember people rebadging the 1.6a as higher cpu's and selling them. didn't a few online shops get busted for that?

This chip probably would have done 3GHz with water/phase-change cooling.

That 2.6 figure was with the stock Intel cooler, but in a well-ventilated case.

1.6a FTW, no doubt.

I miss my Cyrix 233 with 32 MB of RAM. I was not much of an overclocker when I joined here, but it is funny to think how my computer has improved since then...

I was an anand lurker in 99 and a forum lurker in 01. Sometimes I wish I had joined back then just so I could be one of the LEET HAXORS.

Yes, I remember that stuff! :D

I even remember one of the people who hammered at Buy.com (and actually, IIRC, received the monitor in question). Funny, that monitor would be thrown to the curve today! :D

It's not even worth that much. Maybe it can be put on CL and have someone pick it up. :D

IIRC correctly I had an AT account sometime around that era, but after moving lost my old email account and forgot the password to the account. I didn't feel the urge to post again until 2004.

And yes, Celeron 300A @ 450MHz on Abit BX6 was great back then. I remember having a whopping 64MB of RAM ;)

Before I even knew the Internet existed I played around on my dad's Tandy 1000. 286 processor and 30MB hard drive FTW!
