8 pin power connector

I have noticed that some motherboards ( mostly for Intel CPUs) have an 8 pin power connector in addition to the 20 or 24 pin connector power connector. For example:

It is seen on the lower left of the 3rd pic.
Most AMD boards only use the more typical 4 pin connector.
Question: What do you do if your PSU only has the 4 pin plug? Is there an adapter you can use? Do you just use the 4 pin connector? Or do you need a new PSU?
 
The 8 pin is used mostly with server/workstation motherboards. An EPS Power Supply will have the connector, but you can also get away with using a molex to 8 pin convertor, I wouldn't recommend doing that with server level hardware, but you should be fine with that desktop board.
