8 pin PCIE connector & GTX 670 Question

hey all, i have two 8 pin PCIE connectors on my PSU, but they both come from the same cable (in my modular PSU they both connect together on an outlet on the Corsair). My Gigabyte OC GTX 670 needs 1 6 pin and 1 8 pin, the 8 pin cord is essentially a 6 pin with 2 extra pins hanging there. Can i use the same cable from the same outlet to power the GTX 670 or should they be from separate cables? (ie 1 6pin on another modular line and 1 8pin on another modular line)

Thanks

It should work either way if thats how the plug is designed to be. You can separate them buy I think you only have a single 12v rail anyway so you dont really have to worry.

Yes, no problem. I have my 2 EVGA GTX 670 FTWs connected via an Antec 750 Gamer that is SLI certified. It has 2 PCI-E cables that each has dual 8 pin connectors (6+2 extra for 8 pin compliance). Use the single cable and hook up the cable 8 pin(6+2) on the GTX 670 8 pin female socket and use the other cable 6pin connector on the GTX 670 6 pin female connector. Same cable. BTW poohbear, what 670 did you finally get?
