8 pin motherboards can I use normal psu on it

I had an Asus P5WD2-E Premium with an 8 pin connector and it worked just fine with the 4 pin. I can't speak for the board you're asking about.

It's a reference board, so that connector will probably turn into just a plain 4-pin on production boards. Such a connector is not even part of the standard ATX power supply spec, it's for EPS supplies (server systems).

If nothing else, I'm sure there's an adaptor.

i wouldnt because i used hiper type-r 580w with one single 4pin connector on sapphire rd580adv crossfire board, and after the third boot the motherboard just died :(

tried different cpu/ram/vga combos on it, and nothing...the fans spins leds light up, but no post or anything...i would at least get an adapter or something
