8 pin connector on BadAxe

I posted this under Motherboards but haven't gotten any replies yet. Is it ok to use the 2x4 adapter to connect the 2x2 cable to the 8 pin power connector on the mobo? In the manual it says not to do this if you're running Extreme Edition CPUs or going to OC, but I've been running fine for days now.

If it isn't ok, does anyone know of some good PSUs that actually have an 8 pin connector?

Thanks.
Will

Are you running one of the listed CPUs? It is simply a matter of current really. One of those adapters does nothing as far as carrying extra current to the mobo, which is what all these new connectors have been showing up for. Getting more current to the CPU/GPU, as their power demands have increased greatly.
That being said, I do not know in your particualr situation, and I have not had a lot of first-hand experience with this, so I am not sure.

The seasonic S12 (the one i'm using) has a 8pin connector. It works perfectly with this mobo. Unless you're using the P180, in which case you need to buy an extension for the cable.

Well, I'm running an E6600 and I'm guessing that qualifies as EE. Regardless, I'm going to attempt my first OC w/ it and Intel says that's a no-no with the 2x2 to 2x4 adapter. So, I suppose I'll end up having to get a new PSU, tho right now I'm running everything fine w/ the adapter, just not OC'ed yet. Just wanted to know if anyone else using a Conroe and the BadAxe was OC'ing with the adapter.

how does the E6600 qualify as EE? extreme edition is the X6800.

You won't fry your cpu by undervolting it. Your system will just be unstable. Make a backup of your data.

The 6600 is not an EE processor. Not by a long shot.

Remember the BAd Axe boards can take a Pentium D EE processor as well which gobbles up power like no tomorrow. All core 2 duo chips consume far less. So you should be fine.
