BestBuy has a Cyber Power 8 outlet surge protector 3400 joule protection for $35 - $30 instant rebate making it $5 bucks out the door without messing with any rebate junk. It looks just like this one here, but with different arrangement for the cable and phone/ethernet jacks.
It has a 6 foot 3 prong plugin, 5 regular outlets, 3 transformer outlets for the oversized plugs, cable, ethernet, and phone/modem protection. Includes Two 2-wire phone cords(6 foot), and a 6 foot coax line. Model #860

Everyone should use these instead of those regular power strips for the $175000 connected equipment guarantee if nothing else. I got three :D

Most surge protectors like this run over $20 so I would say pick this one up while supplies last. I never understood why something so simple has to cost so much, now we know, it doesnt have to :):)

Just got back from the one near the Tacoma Mall in tacoma, wa.

They had 4... I bought 3... $4.99 each, confirmed.

However, they were not displayed with the price. They were all stacked up, with no indication of any sale.
I was reading the package, trying to figure out if it was the right one... when the electronic guy comes over and asks if I need any help. He said "do you know the price on that?"... And I said "I think so... but the price isn't anywhere here" <gesturing at the rack of surge protectors>
And he replys "It's $5 after Mail-In-Rebate"

I thought "crap! MIR!...uh... I'll go see how it rings up..." $4.99, NO rebate!!

If I had listened to the sales guy, I would'nt have bought it... but luckily, I read the anandtech forums!

Oh, and the model number is 886 listed on the side of the plastic package. The only clue on the front was "3400 Joules"

Thanks! I needed these!

Ok... I'm using this thing now.

There's 2 lights on the top -- 1 says "ground", 1 says "surge"

The surge light is ON, and the ground light turns on when I have something plugged in and in use.

Anyone know how the lights should look? Is ON a good thing or a bad thing?

Man - I was totally bummed when I went to the BB power isle and saw that there weren't even signs for the 3400J 886 model. So I walked around a bit to see if there were anymore lying around and shortly after I saw 3 just sitting next to a computer display. So needless to say - *YOINK* - I came out w/ 3 of those in hand.

SKU is definitely: 6074428 and model 886.

the BB in SF, CA is OUT!

BTW, this is still on, I have cleaned my local BB (Fort Collins, CO) out 3 days in a row. They just keep stocking, and I just keep cleaning.

Found the last one at the Orland Park, IL store. None in stock Monday so they probably had more come in their Tues/Thurs shipment. :D

Sale for this item ended 10/20, Saturday.

Who knows - doesn't hurt to check. I think it was in their flyer when it was active 2 weeks ago. I'm not so sure but I think it might be b/c it's a discontinued item.
