8 Movies To Die For: HorrorFest.. ANY GOOD??

8 Movies To Die For: HorrorFest, these movies came out late last year and actually featured only 7 movies. The 8th, Abandoned, I believe is out in theathers now with 2 more in the works one of which is by Snoop Dogg.
The 7 DVD's came out today and are being sold at Bestbuy for $15 each but you can buy 2 for $25 or all 7 for $60 which is slightly higher than $9 a movie after tax in CA. Each movie runs about 95-99 minutes from what I saw.
I want to buy these movies since I am a horror movie fan (or should i say hopeful since I always hope they will be good or scary but almost never are), and a dvd collector. I would like to purchase them and then have a a marathon at my house where my friends come over and we spend the day watching all 7 while having some beers.

Did anyone see ANY of these? Would like to hear from someone who saw all of them! Are any of them good? I know they can't all be winners but are any of them actually good? and are any of them so bad they aren't even worth the $9?

Link to site and lil synopsys on each movie

not a horror fan but i have a feeling
SNOOP DOGG's HOOD OF HORROR might be one of the worst movies of all time.

I wanted to go to th festival, but I was working out of town that week...I only saw 1 of them and from the peeks that I took of the other movies, they're not very good.

Never heard of them.

Check the scores on IMDB or other sites.

i never really believe scores and ratings usually when someone is rated well it sucks and when it is rated poorly it is really good lol. but i supposed i could read what was written about them

i saw The Gravedancers... starts of very well... towards the end and the ending itself is pretty stereotypical horror though.

considering you're a horror fan... definitely worth seeing.

i might have to go to best buy tomorrow 😀

also... if you didn't see The Descent... buy that while you're there. probably my favorite horror movie in recent years.

yeah... definitely goin to best buy tomorrow... widescreen 2 disc special edition of The Lost Boys.

pretty much the best movie ever.

yup.

HAHA the lost boys..... iw as there today when i picked up Children of Men and i didn't see that? How much $15?

and I have the Descent, i bought it because of my friend who is also a big horror movie fan but VERY picky like myself and she told me the premise and that she HEARD it was good.... I went out and bought it but i have to admit i didn't like it there wasn't anythgin scary about it or a unique story at all? Her and i stopepd talking recently so i have no idea what she thought of it after she saw it. However i did NOT understand the end!!!! PM ME and tell me what you got from it as to not add spoilers here please 🙂

PENNY DREADFUL
Young Penny goes on a retreat with her psychologist. The intention is to help her overcome her phobia of cars. But events find her in a nightmarish situation where her worst fears come true.

The only movie that sounds kinda interesting.

for some reason the ending got changed for the US version. that's really all i know. and yeah... they totally botched the end lol

i didn't think i was clausterphobic in the least until i saw this movie... but the parts towards the beginning where the tunnels get very tight REALLY bothered me.

i liked it for the more subtle things... the psychology of survival horror is the best part... and i thought they played that out pretty well.

one of my other recent favorites... High Tension (or Haute Tension if you're looking on imdb). that movie managed to be pretty disturbing and still contain ample gore. usually it seems like a lot of the more gore oriented horror movies come off as cheesey.

ultimately... i think things are a lot scarier when they're not really explained or are very vague... like a lot of the japanese horror.

*SPOILERS*

Did they? what was the ending before? I just didn't get it i don't understand if there were no underground ancient humans afterall and if she was the one who went nuts and killed all her friends, or was the escape she saw when she got intot he car and drove away just a dream because of her fall and the creatures were real and she was still in there with them?
I too liked the psychology of the film. I was told that they were really in a cave the whole time where it was cold, none of the girls were told what to except, what the creatures would look like, that cold water kept being thrown at them, and that the only lights used for the actual filming of the movie was their actual flashlights and stuff? That is what sparked my interest in the first place

*/SPOILERS*

never saw the 2nd film. I tend to get more frightened by slower horror movies that move along so slow filled with suspense and slightly more realisim than just gore. To this day the movie that freaks me out the most is The One ! just the way it is filmed, how everything moves along so slow (such as samara haha), so creepy. The Grudge I think sucked but parts of it were very creepy like the wife and the way she moved or how she appeared in the hallway and walked by the camera and then suddenly raised above it and came through *shudders*. Part 2 of both films sucked. I also have Ringu and Ju-on with Ringu being worse than the American version with a happier ending thought he girl was freakier with her horse eyes, and Ju-on being better than the US version.

I'm a huge horror fan, but these movies are pretty awful.

The Hamiltons and Wicked Little Things are worth watching. They are actually good flicks.

Penny Dreadful and Dark Ride suck but they are worth a one time watch if you like b rated horror flicks.

Unrest is just absolutely awful and isn't even a scary movie whatsoever.

And Gravedancers is awful as well. It's just so horrible. The only cool thing about it is that Lincoln Buroughs is in it.

I have yet to watch Reincarnation though.

These movies weren't released to the general public because they were "too scary" ... they weren't released cause they are horrible movies.
