8 month warranty

Looked up a warranty and it only has 8 months not 12 months like it should be. When the item is sitting on the shelf it should not count agianst the warranty.

Usually if your warranty is "up" and you contact them and have a reciept, invoice, or dated packing slip for it, they'll play ball with you.
 
Warranty timeframe starts when the item is sold PROVIDED you can produce the original receipt showing when you purchased it. If you can't, some companies default to the date it was made or sold to the retail store.

I argued with Seagate to no avail about this a couple months back regarding their change from 1 year to 3 year warranties. Even though all the info on their site states that any drive purchased after a specific date is covered they claim that applies to the retail outlet they shipped it to, not the end user. :disgust:
 
I just got done with a situation like this with Logitech. Provided proof of purchase and everything was all set.

HD's are a different story though. AFAIK they go from the date of maufacture.

the retail owes u a new drive since they advertise 1 year and only gave u 8 and u can also throw that hdd through their window.. 🙂
