8 mile - what an awesome movie

ndee

OK, that's the Hip Hop I'm talkin' about, in a cool club, hard beats and not that stupid-ass Ja Rule talkin' about his b!tches, money and cars. Also no stupid hollywood love story. Just a great movie.

I really enjoyed the movie as well. Heard anything about when the DVD is going to come out?

nope, but I for sure gonna get it on DVD. I didn't watch any trailer on purpose(those stupid trailers ruin a movie me thinks) and I was really really surprised. Eminem isn't as stupid as a lot of people would like to see him.

the way Rabbit battled at the end was sweeeeeett!

the whole crowd chanting. what?! what? what?!.... Papa Doc got put in his place

I'll be getting the dvd 🙂

That's got to be one of the worst movies I've seen in the theater lately...

I can see the pitch.

We need a movie for Eminem. His music sales are very high in our
demographics of 13-20 year olds.

Hmm. let's take the Karate Kid and make it about battle rapping ... $$$

Or just make it semi-biographical. You must be one of those that doesn't like Eminem/rap?

I enjoyed it. I think Eminem got help from a great cast. He himself did an OK job playing Rabbit. The freestyle battles were amazing. I'll give credit where credit is due, and Eminem is an amazing lyricist. If I'm not mistaken he wrote the lyrics to most (all?) the battle scenes.

I am truly amazed by this film and I have yet to see it. I have heard absolutely no one call this movie bad in any manner. Even my brother liked it and he is very critical about new movies. (Eminem is a talented motherfvcka)

Actually, I'm a very big hiphop fan.. I liked Eminem before he was even big.

But this movie sucked.

I thought it was kinda cool, cuz it was more realistic then most movies some "singer" does. It wasn't a typical hollywood movie.

Did Eminem die in the end?

Yes, he was killed by a drive by shooting and there was a big funeral and at the end, it said: "In remembrance of 2pac, wesyyyyde fou' life".

Can you elaborate?

Sure

As a fan of ?underground? hiphop or whatever the hell its called, I kinda had
semi elavated hopes for this flick, but it just the same corny storyline in all the
Cinderella style movies (i.e. Flashdance, Karate Kid, Driven, etc?) just with battle raps as
the form of competition.

Sometimes these types of films can be good (Hoosiers, Rocky I) but just having an underdog main character overcome odds isn?t what makes the movies great. There has to be depth to the storyline.

The added depth in 8 mile is so lame its not even funny (his down and out mom, the token girlfriend that cheats on you then you make up, the retarded friend, the crew rivalry). These situations could have been made more interesting and actually contributed to the movie, but instead they just felt thrown in there to adhere to the true and tried formula... and most of the acting was horible, too.

Only redeeming quality was the music.
