My question is very specific: why does msinfo32.exe report the odd numbers it does?
Here's what i see with Vista x64 + 8 GB + memory remapping enabled:

For my own interest, i took screenies of other configs as well.
6 GB w/ remapping on
6 GB w/ remapping off (cannot boot into anything but safe mode - same for 8 GB)
4 GB w/ remapping off (can boot into OS normally)
Now that would appear to me that i only have 4 GB available to use, except that's not the case. I can easily confirm that by running applications to utilize well over 4 GB w/o issues, not to mention that task manager correctly reports total usage.
Of course, when i actually have only 4 GB installed, i obviously cannot utilize over 4 GB w/o the system slowing to a halt.
From what i can tell, msinfo32's "Total Physical Memory" appears to show the amount of RAM available over 4 GB, & not what is actually available as a total.
Or iow, it seems msinfo32 is actually incorrectly reporting things?
Wisdom from the gurus is always appreciated.
Thanx.
