I'm up against the classic 8GB limit on a 15GB HDD.
There is no bios update, it is a 430TX chipset with a PII 233 processor in a Pavilion 8240 system.

Is a bios issue, chipset issue or is it a processor issue?

Is there anything that can be done or am I screwed?

This is running FAT32 and eventually loading 2k. Win95 is there now on the other drive (there are 2). BTW, there is 256MB of PC66 installed.

It is probably a BIOS issue. I have used a 20GB drive with an old computer running 233MMX and it recognized the drive without a problem. Also, either your chipset is wrong or your CPU is incorrect, because the 430TX chipset did not support PII CPUs. It was socket 7 only.

It would probably be a Pentium MMX 233 rather than a Pentium II.

The easiest way to get around the hard drive limit is to buy a PCI IDE Controller.

Good point Also companies like Maxtor and Western Digital send drivers and work-arounds on BIOS limitations. Logical Partitioners on Floppies.

That's my fault. It is a socket 7. I am a AMD user and this is someones elses. I'm not use to these inferior Wintel products! (hihi)

The ATA card is out. I really don't want to use MaxBlast (It's a Maxtor 531DX). Aren't there too many issues with that software?? I don't want to have problems down the road because of it! Rob Peter to pay Paul.

How about a bios update from somewhere other than HP?
