I heard that the poor benchmark results of 8150 is because Windows 7 are not optimized to 8 cores. Windows 7 actually sees the 8 physical cores as logical cores. But in the cause of MAC it seems it utilizes all 8 cores. So thats y I raise this to the geeks here :colbert:

Since i have planned to upgrade my PC from Pentium 4 :p to a gaming PC  wanted to if it is worth buying Bulldozer 8150. :awe: :hmm:

i dont even what is

Apple doesn't use AMD processors, they exclusively use Intel. Also, for a gaming PC the 2500K makes much more sense than Bulldozer. The 8150 can beat the 2500K in some tasks, but gaming typically isn't one of them.

For gaming? No, not worth it.

Do you OC?

In most cases a 2500K is going to serve you better for a gaming rig than an 8150 ever will.

If you're replacing a Pentium 4, practically anything you buy will be significantly better. You may actually be one of the few people impressed with Bulldozer.

Don't really see anyone wanting a mainstream 8 core just yet yet.

The 2500k is a ace chip i used to own one but due to bad circumstances i no longer own that rig so keep it if you can .

Side note my 1100t reminds me of my g0 q6600 purchase it seemed impractical at first replacing my e6750 but games like UT3 show good threading and a handful better fps over a faster dual but now games like BF3 now have a handful better fps with my 1100t over a faster amd quad.

Still the 2500k is a better overall chip only a fool would doubt this and argue it so please Op for the love of god keep the 2500k.

Windows 7 has no problems using all 8 cores on the 8150. The scheduler is only not optimal when there are less than 7 CPU intensive threads, with the worse case being 1-4 threads.

Thanks all who replied to my post.

I have seen the AMD 8150 Gaming performance and AMD 8150 Multi Gpu Gaming performance Benchmarks which does not impress me as u guys say.

I could see from the benchmarks that multi threaded apps for video encoding etc gives very good results but not for games.

As one of u guys said I looked @ the 8 core thing but I was hoping that some Windows 7 tweaks will make performance increase in BD, but I learned that it ll not increase much.

Well and good before I purchase I learnt so much. Thanks for everyone who answered my questions.

I have one more question If I upgrade now I ll not do another upgrade in near future, so suggest me a good gaming rig.

I have Core i7 2600k, not sure which MOBO to go, 12GB RAM, Asus HD6950 1GB, Coolermaster extreme series 500W [already owned] in my mind.

Please suggest and change my above newbie config lol
