I'm shopping for a new LCD. I have an NEC 6-bit panel, the Multisync LCD1760V. It's great, but I've just sold it :) So, I'm looking for a new panel that has DVI and is 8-bit. The problem is, there are so many companies out there advertising 16.7 million colours, that I just don't buy a company selling a 16.7 mil for $270 for a 19" screen.

Can anyone out here let me know of a few models that are known to be 8-bit panels? I'm HOPING to spend right around $300, so I'm not sure it's going to happen, but I would like to know of a few known panels so I can decide whether I buy now or wait a bit of time.

DVI is a must.

Thank you.

Viewsonic VP171 just went discontinued at CompUSA... so if you could find one that still has them in stock, check it out.

1905fp is proven 8-bit, even though it has a highish rate of 20ms it's true 8-bit. Lots of the speed demons are 6-bit dithering..

6-bit is not bad at all. After a few adjustments to the gamma, my 6-bit panel's colors are as good as the 8-bit panel I use at work.

It's not that I have a problem with 6-bit... I don't... I have a 6-bit NEC right now. Right now, it's more a matter of if I'm going to upgrade, I want to get as good as I can. That means DVI and 8-bit. My NEC is 6-bit and DSUB... and I love it... but I'm not going to spend money on the same thing, just more money, you know? :)
