People are idiots. Hell, most of those are just clones of a Ping Anser design that dates back to the 1960s and has not changed one iota since then. There's no R&D, no new tech, no special metallurgy. It's truly astounding.

guess the high price is because they are made from German stainless steel, guess Cameron has a patent on it. and they are tour putters.

LOL, no.

GSS is just a slightly different variety of ordinary 303 stainless and it's neither patented nor inherently better than other steels. It's not even viewed as a superior putter material, other types of steel are more highly touted and more highly priced. And those, like GSS, are pure snake oil with no real science to back up why anyone would want a putter made of them. Some varieties are more stain resistant, some weld better, some bend more easily (which is marketed as a good thing) and some are more resistant to bending (which is also marketed as a good thing). It's all bullshit, it's a putter, it's not subjected to weather or high stress environments. What Scotty has a patent on is suckering numbskulls with more money than sense.

I could buy one of those, and I'm still going to miss the hole, what's the point? :p

The point is some people convince themselves or allow others to convince them that they will not miss. A fool and his money...

Also don't forget supply and demand. If there is a demand someone is going to supply it and set the price at what the market will bear or lose business. At least that's how it ought to work.

Hearing golf spectators shout "It's in the HOLE!!!" always amuses me. For once I'd like to hear a lady spectator shout a reply along the lines of: "But I don't feel it!" or "Wrong hole! Wrong hole!"

My five inch paring knife is also made of german stainless steel. My putting is no better. Hell I don't even play golf.

I use a Carbite Polar Balanced Putter. It is about from 2003 or so .. works very well. I also have a mallet style putter if I want to use it.
