I need a motherboard I can overclock an intel chip with that can do sli in a few months when I get another video card. Is 750i or 780i any good to OC an E8400 or is P35 still the best bet? Thank you.
I'm running a brand new MSi P7N Platinum SLI and I'm pretty thrilled with it so far. Unlike my 965P-DS3 v 3.3, this thing is rock solid stable with my C2D e4300 @3Ghz and 4GB G. Skill 800Mhz @1000Mhz. I'm also running SLI'd 9600GT flawlessly.
the intel chipsets OC better than nVidia currently. That does not mean thay 7x0i's don't OC well but you must use nvidia boards for SLI with the exception of skulltrail, when it's released. From my experience with 780i's the FSB wall is between 450 and 500 (QDR 1900 - 2000) and it's not consistant between boards even from same manufacturer/lot. As for 750i I have no idea what it can do, might want to check the manufacturer's forums if they have any and see what people are able to get stable.
