7DXR Vs. KG7, anyone dare to tackle this?

Not to start a flame war but I'd be interested in seeing a head to head review or comparison. They seem to be fairly comparable, with the KG7 sporting an additional dimm slot over the gigabyte. the 7DXR sports dual bios, though.

Gigiabyte uses the promise raid controller while abit goes with (what I think is more inferior to the promise) highpoint controller. The HP controller does 0+1, though, while the promise does not,(only 0 or 1, not 0+1)

The Abit KG7 has an additional PCI slot.

Am I missing anything?

Very tough match. Both are incredible boards. U got pretty much the major differences, but I will mention that KG7 uses SoftMenu III and it has a few more ocing options compared to 7DXR. One could go with either, but I think KG7 is the better one but again, It really is a matter of preference. I personally think that Highpoint's 370 is faster than Promise, so for me that's a plus for KG7, I don't care much for the KG7's additional DIMM slot, 6 PCI is nice, but 5 is cool also. I really overall from the beginning have been particulary impressed with KG7 so I would probably end up going with KG7 primarilly because of the Highpoint RAID, and the additional Ocing SoftmenuIII, but for most people (Including myself), the Dual BIOS on Gigabyte may be enough to get 7DXR instead of KG7. That's my take.

I've got a 7dxr (rev 1.0) and I've got to tell you it would take one helluva board to convince me to switch in the near future. This board has a very polished feel to it. It overclocks well, is very stable, has voltage tweaks galore, and most important of all.. it just plain works 🙂 After using strictly VIA boards for the past 2.5 years this is a pleasant surprise.

All that being said, if the kg7r comes out and is as good as it looks to be.. I'll drop this board in a heartbeat 🙂

The softmenu does seem a lot better than the dip switches. I thought the DXR had some control over overclocking in bios, though?
