So I got one of those promotional emails from Newegg and the first thing was a code for $200 off the 7D with 18-135 kit. That was the last straw for me. I've been wanting this camera for sometime now. I would have preferred to just get the body only but the deal was for the kit. Although, it means that for $100 more, I get the (~$400) lens which I can sell.

This will take over as my main and my 40D will be the backup. Time to sell the ol Rebel XT.

Now I just have to wait till Monday because it will be delivered to my work. Argh! :awe:

Anyone else have this camera?
 
Congrats. I got mine 2 weeks ago. It's been an amazing machine. Take it out and practice with the AF. I can't stress that enough. It's easy with the XXXD, XXD and 5D to scroll through the 9 AF points easily, but the 7D AF system takes a bit getting used to.

I'm still clunky with the M-Fn button to switch AF modes and all. Cycling is easy, but when I want to switch from zone to expansion I do stumble a bit and I even have to look for the M-Fn button sometimes.

I'm glad I went with the 7D. It's an amazing crop camera.

Yeah I've read a bit about the new AF system. Sounds like it's pretty nice once you get the hang of it. I will definitely be out practicing with it. Just have to wait... :/

I did consider making the jump to full frame but I've been happy with my crop bodies so far and it was a lot cheaper than the 5DMII. When I'm ready, all of my glass will be FF compatible so it wont be hard.

It's funny you say that. After one shoot, I came home and realized that I switched modes with the m-fn button tons of times without thinking about it. Weird how minds/bodies just start working like that.
 
glad you are all liking your camera. i thinks its pretty comical we have one at work that is used to about 1% of its capability. every pic is taken as a MQ jpeg because its only got a 256 meg CF card in it.

i really have no idea how that PO for it got approved or what happened to the 50D we used to have

they could afford a 7D but not a 1-4GB CF card? someone needs to get smacked over there, heh
