I've asked for similar advice in a previous thread but have expanded my views about the choices.

I'm not impressed with the Sapphire 7990 relatively HOT, Noisy Cooling and poor OC's reputation but considering it's 6GB vRam and Low pricing at this time appears to be a sensible solution followed perhaps by the EVGA GTX 780 Classified which is Pricy, runs Cool, is Quiet and OC's like mad with unlocked VC; but is 3GB's of vRam sufficient for 1440p Gaming and 4K Video?

Both the 7970 CF and GTX 770 4GB SLI will trounce the GTX 780 but I'm not fussy about either CF/SLI due to various issues and cost of a Dual Card SetUp.

I will most likely wait it out till October when AMD introduces their New GPU before purchasing. The 7** GTX prices should drop at that time but I can't see the price of that HD 7990 going any lower then what it is now.

Assuming both AMD and nVidia eventually get their drivers sorted out for CF/SLI Micro-Stutter and Multi-Display issues, which cards or combination there of I've mentioned in your opinion would be most sensible for a 120Hz QX2710 display at this time.

One matter I do need clarified is regarding how vRam works with Cards in either CF or SLI compared to a Single Card with 2 GPU's. It appears to me that if you have 2 x 3 GB vRam cards in CF or say SLI that only 3 GB's of is used effectively yet a Single Card with 2 GPU's such as the HD 7990 6GB or GTX 6990 utilizes all it's vRam - Is this assumption correct?

Thanks ;o)

I have a 780, and once OC'd it has no problems with anything at 1440p. 60fps+ in everything I've thrown at it. Can't always max out the AA, but that's it.

Hey Z, it doesnt matter if CF or SLI is done on 1 card or 2, the RAM is always halved, as the data is mirrored for each GPU

Humm - Was afraid of that answer ;o)

In which case Price/Performance the Radeon HD 7950 CF may be the most sensible choice right now.

That does it. I going to wait it out hoping the GTX 7** prices drop after AMD releases their platform in October - Sish!

Would be nice to see a Single GPU 384Bit/6.144 GB or 512Bit/4.096 GB Card from AMD come October at a reasonable price.

I dont think there will be anything for awhile to drive 4K and at playable rates, least not a single GPU anyway!

wait till mid-oct for reviews. looks like hawaii is going to be a very powerful chip. i would advise you to make the decision only after you have a clear idea of Hawaii wrt GTX 780 and Titan.

raghu78: Considering the price of the GTX 780 and Titan, I would, at this time, opt for the SAPPHIRE 100350GAMESR Radeon HD 7990 at $700 USD for single monitor 2650x1440 120 Hz gaming and get 8 Free Games to boot.

Although slated to be terminated this quarter, the AMD HD 7990 Malta outperforms all GeForce Cards at this resolution but noted to be rather Hot and Noisy with probable Coil Wine if not water cooled.

Seems $750 is my MAX expenditure for a 1 or 2 card solution to play a Single 120 Hz PLS Display at 1440p beyond 60 fps for the most intense hardware challenged games.

I doubt the GK114 Kepler will be going any where soon.

I'm muddling between a single GPU 1300Mhz Dual Bios EVGA Geforce GTX 780 Classified ACX 3GB Vs a Dual GPU 1100Mhz Sapphire Malta HD 7990 6GB. They are presently the same price and the AMD Malta looks the BEST at 1440p especially if you water block it and has reserve for more then one Display.

No doubt AMD's October release will not come soon enough for me.

My Platform is a 24/7 ASUS P8Z68-V Pro Gen 3 / i7 2700K @ 4.6Ghz 1.32v / Corsair H100 with 16GB Samsung MV-3V4G3D-US 1866Mhz 9-9-9-24 1T 1.35v / Samsung 840 Pro 256 + Various WD in Raid-0 and a KM3 XFX 850W Modular Black Edition PSU, Fractal Midi R2 Case ... etc. I can hit 5.2 Ghz's @ 1.55 v for Benches but don't interest me. I'm primarily a System Builder with priority in Video Encoding and only Game (with interest) to prove my Hardware selection and OS Tweaking for my Gaming Clients.

But now, I want to Relax and Game and reach the Max 1440p Gaming Experience on a Single Display using a reasonable costing GPU Card.

Adding: The $300 Korean QNIX QX2710 is a fabulous display and can be driven with an Ancient $30 nVidia 280 GTX and capable of 144Hz on a Samsung PLS (IPS) Display.

What more can I say other then power it with a modern GPU whether it be nVidia or AMD - I am not BIOS.
