7970 poor graphics score 3dmark 11

I just bought my sapphire 7970 today, updated my drivers, and then proceeded to run 3dmark 11's benchmarks. To my surprise i got an abysmal 7460 on the test. Here are the scores. Not overclocked btw. I'm very puzzled...

Please benchmark your card in a game that you actually play, and then compare it to the multitude of reviews that are available.

We all like synthetic e-peen, but do some practical tests as well.
 
It's probably just me but I don't get the fuss in comparing scores and even running 3DMark...

Why not just enjoy your card in-games?
 
I scored 7618 with a stock 7950/2500K. It's gotta be something in your driver settings. What did you have before this card, and did you clean your system of old drivers?
