So i have decided to chop in the 460 GTX SLI for a new card.

Currently i can get an XFX 7970 for £270 or a 670 GTX for £270

This is all i want to spend currently on a new card. I dont want a 680 because they are £80 more and not worth the money and the ghz 7970 is just an overclock so i dont want to pay for that either.

Has anyone had experience with the XFX card? or any reason to go for a 670?

I take it English isn't your first language? :)

Go for the XFX 7970 it is far superior to the 670 GTX.

A lot of people have had bad experiences with XFX, I'd avoid if possible.

Where on earth can you see one for only £270?
I can't see cheaper than £284.15 on Scan and even then I'd stretch to the £299 Gigabyte version.

At that price can you afford not to give it a go? it looks like reference PCB with aftermarket cooler.

OK, I see it now. Not from Amazon themselves.

Thing is that doesn't look like it includes the "never settle" games bundle which is worth quite a bit. The games bundle has to be worth at least £30 on it's own, plus you can get free shipping from dabs or Scan (with 20 posts on Hexus)

http://www.scan.co.uk/products/3gb-...8nm-gpu-1000mhz-2048-cores-dvi-i-hdmi-2x-mdp-

The games bundle is just too good to ignore and Gigabyte are far superior to XFX.

Yeah the bundle sells on ebay around $50 bucks. That's a nice chunk of change.

Yeah, it seems the Farcry 3 code sells for £17 on ebay at the moment.

Also you can get a further 4% off (before VAT) on dabs purchases:
http://www.quidco.com/dabs-com/
That's £10 cashback.

So with a total of £27 cashback and free postage that's cheaper than the XFX card, and better and 2 free games as well :)

If you aren't already on quidco and give me a refer that would be handy :)

I have a pair of 7970s and the extra memory on them is sure useful for higher resolutions.

I say GTX 670. IMO its the perfect card. Simply perfect. Yes, I am biased. Yes, I am a fanboy. Yes, my GTX 670's make me play BF3 better than Radeon people.

OP for £240 grab a sapphire HD 7950 boost. 925 mhz clocks. stock voltage of 1.25v. easily overclocks to 1100 - 1150 mhz at stock voltage or slight voltage tweaking. good cooler. comes with the never settle game bundle.

http://www.ebuyer.com/399212-sapphi...-mini-displayport-pci-e-graphics-11196-16-20g

at the same clocks the HD 7950 is 3- 5% slower than HD 7970. HD 7950(1100 matches HD 7970 Ghz (1050 mhz) performance. unbeatable price perf.

the gigabyte card is also a good option . but for a lesser price perf.

You're one of the few ATOT'ers I haven't had a chance to play yet, which means you haven't seen what this radeon owner does in that game.

The 7970 is the best card for the money. The GE version is pointless when this card comes with 1ghz clock stock and i can OC it also.

The 7950 looks ok but is slower than the 670 GTX which is slower than the 7970 so i guess i picked the right card.

one thing im not looking forward to though is AMD drivers! Lol

Just consider yourself lucky you bought the card a year after release giving the AMD driver team a chance to catch up! :p

Actually its luck you didn't get your PC pwned by the large security hole NVDA has just acknowledged.
Hopefully their driver team has patched that security chasm at last...:\
