7970 Drivers.

My 7970 is out for delivery right now and I'll be installing it when I get home from work later, but I was just wondering what the best driver to use currently?

I hear a lot of people saying that 11.12 is the best, but there are like 3 versions floating around. Has anyone narrowed it down to which one to use?

Use the newest one dated 1/9

The so called newest one is actually 11.12. If you select 79XX and Windows 7 64 bit on the AMD website that is what you'll get. On the special page they list it as 9 Jan 2012 but once its installed its just 11.12, but presumably with special support for 7900.

There is also a 11.12 on my driver disk which appears to be different.

Tempered81 was referring to the 8.95 driver being the 3rd of Jan, and the Catalyst Application Profile being the 18th.

Well the Jan 19th driver 8.921.2 is out. 2%-15% improvements in various games - there is another thread on it here. And yes as Defusion says the Catalyst Application profiles are dated the 18th, driver was the 3rd.

8.921.2 is out now, dated Jan 19th. It's the one to use. Changes daily!!!
