7950x2 showing only 512 mb in display properties

the display properties is only showing 512 of video memory, but the card is 1GB

i've been searching on google and some people say that it is fine because two gpus require 512 each, and some say the display properties should show 1GB

so which is correct?!
 
AFAIK it has 2x512Mb so the correct would be 512mb, just like cards in SLI only show the amount of memory on each card
 
Yes, just like in SLI mode only memory from the 1st card (master) is displayed (or used for that matter)

The 1GB is a marketing hype, your system will only use 512mb
