Since 12.11, I've found that the 7950 is currently the best card for the money, especially since it has great OC potential. But how does it perform in Crossfire? Is there micro stutter like there was for the 6xxx series?

Here's my system:

-3570k
-ASRock Extreme4 Z77
-1TB WD Black/128gb Crucial M4
-AX750
-Fractal R4
-212 Evo

Hey, Mr. Lava. How do your 7970s do with microstutter? I just noticed in your signature that you have them.

I notice it, but that doesn't mean you will. It isn't bad. I give sli and crossfire a go every generation to see if they make any progress in the tech. What resolution and games are you playing that makes you think need 2 7950's?

I was going to get one of those korean 2560x1440 monitors to play the newest games on max. Either catleap or shimian.

Even just one of my cards is enough at 2560x1600. Adding AA to the mix can hurt in certain games but even BF3 plays awesome maxed out with 2xAA. Really the only game that comes to mind that can bring the frame rate down is Metro 2033

I believe that RadeonPro has new features that are supposed to basically fix microstutter on AMD gpu's. It was in the tom's hardware review of the 7990. The graphs that compared microstutter between SLi and Crossfire showed that Crossfire was smoother than SLi when using RadeonPro.

Unfortunately the review was in german and the translation was awful so I can't really explain how it works. Maybe some crossfire users here can explain it better.

The option is called DFC (dynamic framerate control). The creator of the software has a topic in guru3d forum. He also introduced a tool equivalent to nvidia's adaptative vsync called DVC (dynamic vsync control) and other features like FXAA and SMAA.

Their findings on RadeonPro are very glowing and if there really is no caveat AMD should hire this guy ASAP!

well said. AMD need to recruit this guy or atleast buy this technology from him and integrate this tech into their drivers.

Yep I believe they have issued him with some hardware, game codes and driver support etc.
He's a bright guy and will be given a lot of cred if his microstuttering fix works as advertised.
