Unless some big driver change has been made in the last few months, expect to run into problems with this. Vsync generally works in OpenGL games from the last two years and some D3D SFR games, but usually not in D3D AFR games or older games of any kind.

No, it isn't that simple. I had severe issues with v-sync and World of Warcraft with the GX2. In a nutshell: I had to disable triple buffering to get get v-sync to work, and it worked fine... Except, that almost everytime I would exit the game it would lock up my PC and force me to do a hard reset. With triple buffering enabled, v-sync didn't work correctly, but I had a completely stable rig. Basically, I had the choice of v-sync OR stability. It was a serious enough issue for me (considering the price of the card) to return it.

Yes vsync works.

As far as Nitros problem, it was relegated to his card alone. His issues are described in this thread.

I know it not a GX2 problem, but an issue I had with mine, that's why I returned it.

My 2 cards, actually I had picked up another GX2, and it suffered from the same issues (I just updated the thread today). Also, if you read what I wrote, I clearly stated that I can get the card to work reliably, I just can't get it to work reliably and have v-sync work as well. It's possible that it is related to something specific to my rig, I'm not sure, as I couldn't solve the problem. I can only relate my experiences with the card, but the fact remains that it my case (with the only variable being the video card) I had issues with running v-sync with the GX2 consistently that not present with any other card.

Am I suggesting that the OP not get a GX2? no... But, I am saying that to me the "does v-sync work?" question is not as clear as some are making it out to be.

Maby you should try different drivers.

These drivers are pretty good and were designed for the GX2. The inf was modded so now it works with GX2 and just about any other card out there.

Give it a shot and see what happens.

LOL he doesnt have the GX2 anymore wizboy. :)

But Nitro- thanks for the update. I didnt realize you went through 2 GX2s.. strange.
It took NV a while to get vsync working properly on my old 6800GT SLI rig, but eventually it did.
I assume if they got vsync working on 6800GT SLI, it works on a GX2 as well.

A bigger problem is how neither ATI or NV drivers force triple-buffering in D3D.
I dont run vsync due to this, and simply turn video options up to slow it down to where tearing isnt that bad. 4X AA + all the trimmings, or 8xS does the trick most of the time. :)
So for me, the issues you came across would have been a moot point. I probably never would have discovered them.

Yes vsync works.
This is false; there are many situations where it doesn't and this is a known problem.

This is a nice attempted spin on the situation but again it's false.

Well, I can give you specifics for my GX2.

World of Warcraft - v-sync doesn't work properly
Prey - v-sync works fine
HL2:EP1 - v-sync works fine

I didn't have the chance to play anything else really, but I'm pretty sure that v-sync works in Oblivion as well.

You like to attempt to speak as if you are god on certain subjects BFG.. but if you would give him a STRAIGHT ANSWER as hes asking for.. IE. backing up your claims with proof then he can make a decision.

I know people that have GX2s, and none have complained to me about vsync not working and I've seen it working in front of my own face.

Until you can prove theres a pandemic going on of GX2s failing to apply vsync, then its safe to assume based off of the truth.. and the fact that NV wouldnt release the GX2 without vsync working :disgust:... that it indeed does.

It didnt work for Nitro, and only in certain cases. Thats all we know.

For now, the straight answer is that it works for thousands of GX2 owners. It even works for quadSLI. So not sure where you get your info that you cant back up.

All I'm asking for is a link to prove this "known problem" other than Nitros account and if you are right, then we should protest to Nvidia to fix the issue.

I don't have a V-sync problem here.
Seems to work fine in all my games that I need it.

I can add that it works in Riddick and Doom 3 (and other stuff on that engine), and does not work in SCCT, NFS Most Wanted, or DX Invisible War. (with SLI in general rather than the GX2 specifically) Those are the main ones I remember.

There are also some cases where it appears to work but the performance seems to go down to around the level of a single card, even with TB turned on.

I gave him a straight answer which is that sometimes vsync + SLI can't co-exist. If you think vsync is working in all cases then it could well be that SLI is being disabled in some of those cases.

IE. backing up your claims with proof then he can make a decision.
This is a joke, right? The issue has been present since SLI was originally introduced with the GF6 series.

Until you can prove theres a pandemic going on of GX2s failing to apply vsync, then its safe to assume based off of the truth.. and the fact that NV wouldnt release the GX2 without vsync working ... that it indeed does.
What are you talking about? GX2's aren't failing, it's an issue with SLI in certain situations.

All I'm asking for is a link to prove this "known problem" other than Nitros account and if you are right, then we should protest to Nvidia to fix the issue.
How about you start by reading this very thread?

Here are some more.
