My old system as of a few days ago was a 2500k and an Asus z67 mobo with the same 7950 I have now with windows 8. I have always had the infamous wake up from sleep lock up issue with my 7950 even with all of the catalyst updates that were supposed to fix the problem. So I figured it was my mobo that was causing the problem, but I didn't want to invest in an old chipset so I just upgraded the cpu and mobo to haswell. But I am still having this wake up issue with my new setup. Is it safe to say that I have a defective card at this point or is it still an AMD driver issue?

Edit: In case someone doesn't know, the wake up issue I'm referring to is the issue where your computer wont wake back up after the video card turns off and the monitor goes to sleep.

Is it safe to say its my video card that is borked some kind of way, or are the AMD drivers still messed up?

Are you using displayport?

You could just have a cheap cable. If it ever seems like my computer won't wake up. I just turn my monitor off and back on and it's alive again. It's something to do with out of spec monitors and cheap cable I believe. The monitor requires more voltage to wake than the cable/gpu provide.

Your issue could be something else though.

My card still does it, but I never put my machine to sleep. So it does not affect me really. But I tried it just a while back to see if it was still there. I actually do not think it is driver related at all. I think its a a bios issue on the card (Not the mobo).
