7950 reporting width length = 8 via CPU-Z

I have 7950 graphics card and wonder if it's running correctly.....when I check cpu-z
on the "mainboard tab/graphics interface", the width length equals 8 x...should it be 16 x? The next field "max supported" does show 16x.
 
Well it is a dual-GPU board. So one "GPU" is running at x8 and the other is x16, electrically, just like a regular SLI config. It doesn't really make any sense since a GPU doesn't plug into a PCIe slot but that's how it is. 😉 Probably nothing to worry about.
 
I believe both GPUs are seen as running in x8 mode to the motherboard. I wouldn't worry.

I have the same thing and I get well over 9000 3d Marks. Try disabling write combining in display properties>advanced>troubleshooting
 
Same here, no issues tough.

Some 3DMark numbers on the Gigabyte DQ6 and 7950GX2
(C2D E6400 @3.2GHz, 8x400 4-4-4 and 7950GX2@600GPU/700RAM)

Don't forget, drivers at Default Quality.

PS: I came from a DFI Expert and SLI setup, Nforce 4 chipset was running at X8 also. As most benchmarks show, the difference between x8 and x16 is very small (if any).

If I run mine at 400x9 the CPU temp goes into the 70's....I'm cooling with a Ninja plus and thought it would be enough. Some say the temps being reported on this mobo are not true because of where the sensor is placed....I'm running 9x333 and my cpu tmp runs about 60C...I wonder if that's ok for the long haul..
 
Hey, I how is the airflow in your computer case?

Are you sure the thermal paste is correctly applied and the heatsink properly mounted and aligned?

My E6400 runs at 3.2GHZ between 55C and 59C.

I guess the E6600 at 3.6GHz will be in the 70's, for the higher clock and additional cache.

Intel recommends 61C and lower. The should be a safety margin also. I guess that has to do more with stability - but sure it could affect lifespam. Most likely the CPU will be obsolete before it goes down.
