7950 on an asrock 775 vsta

I'm currently having problems with it, I'm not sure its the card seeing as the asrock only support 4x pci-e. Windows locks up once I install the card drivers. Any ideas?

The ULi chipsets can't support the PCI-e bridge the 7950 GX2 uses to allow both GPU's access to the bus.

Its the 7950GT not the x2. The board does support the 7900 so it might be a bad card. It will boot fine but starts hanging after about 5-10 min. If I use the generic windows driver the system is stable however.

It still might be what gstanfor said. 7950GT/GX2 use the same PCI-E bridge to connect the GPUs to the bus.

That sounds an aweful lot like reality and we don't take kindly to that kind of thing around here. I'm taking the card over to my friends tomorrow but I really think its the board.

well, realistically, your current motherboard is just fine for everything but 7950's. I'd be inclined to sell the 7950 and wait for GF8800 GTS or GT myself.

I was wondering if anyone else had this problem, or if it was just Lifestealer. Going to try putting a similar system together tonight, 7950 GT with asrock dual-vsta, so we shall see.
