Hey all

I'm running a Sapphire 7950 OC edition (950/1250) and am curious what temps would be considered high/dangerous for it.
I'm not overclocking it at all, aside from the factory OC.

I game at 1920x1080 4x AA and AF usually.
Idle 31-33C depending on room temp
SWTOR after an hour pushes it up to 61-62C
Skyrim and BF3 are cooler around 55C after an hour of play.

A note about the graphic settings, I use 4x Adaptive MSAA. Not really sure which AA setting is more stressful so I chose the middle ground. the lowest level MSAA doesn't look as pretty =(

I also don't use any custom fan or power settings, my PSU Is a Corsair 650 with 52amps

As long as you are in the 70s you are fine, 80s could be risky, especially for more than 1-2 years run. 90C+ is dangerous for sure. Ideal is 60s. But 70s is perfectly fine as well.

90C is still OK, my 6970 ran at that load temp for well over a year with no problems (as have past cards). It's when you start flirting with 100C on the core you should be worried. The 7000 series runs very cool, especially your card (I have the same one). Overclocked to 1100/1500 I've never seen anything over 66C which is stupid-low for load temps. Higher temps lessen the life of the GPU however we're talking a very slow process over the course of a decade. I'm not sure what the acceptable life-span of a GPU is but I wouldn't think anything less than 5 years.

Your temps are fine. That is close to what I am getting on my 7950 OC as well.

Your temps aren't bad at all. You can also check out your VRM temps, as some of these cards don't have the greatest VRM cooling.

I use HWiNFO64 to monitor mine.

90c isn't good with a 7900 series card, with a 6900 series it is, with a 7900 series card try to keep within 80c

And you can always increase the fan speed, going from 20% to 50% will decrease load temps from 90 to 65

anyway, op your temps are perfect
