You can conect it either way. When I was using a Zalman cooler, I hooked it up to the mobo, and it just ran at full speed, since it's quiet anyways. If you use the included molex connector, you can also run the fan at 7v which will be even quieter.

if we are talking about VF900 then i would use the included FAN MATE2 fan controller... I find this cooler pretty loud anything over 25% turn of the FAN MATE. Munky do you have some loud fans in your system or not so quiet house? At idle it is by far the loudest fan in my system if turned past 20%.

My idea of loud is a x1900xt stock cooler. The zalman vf900 is much quieter than that. It's not silent, but then none of my fans are silent.

my idea of loud is if i can hear it when i wake in the morning and sit next to machine to check e-mail.

But i can say my PSU gets to be the loudest at full load... but that is usally when i am listening to music and working or playing games so i only notice it when i take the cans off my ear.
