If so, what kind of hardware does one need :D?

Motherboard suggestions?
Power supply suggestions?
Case suggestions?

:D

I really appreciate your assistance in moderating my posts this forum. This is a better place because you are here helping the mods corral rule breakers, like me. :D

Okay just making sure, flashbacks of that "i am 13" kid were starting to come to mind....

LOL. I forgot to mention in that other threads location that PSU requirements are normally exaggerated on OEM specifications from Nvidia or ATI, so don't be surprised if some suggest PSU's that look like they won't cut the mustard.

I would guess that you will need at least an nForce4 SLI X16 or nForce 590 SLI chipset motherboard, and I would suggest a beefy PSU, something like a PCP&C 1KW PSU. As far as the case goes, I think I'd get one the CoolerMaster Stacker 830 with the four fans on the side. After that, it's just driver support that you'll be waiting on.

i agree. a 1KW psu is probably what you should get. also check nvidia.com as they have a list of compatible motherboards for the 7950GX2. unfortunately, there has yet to be a driver that enables quad sli (2x7950GX2), but nvidia has said that the driver that will enable it will come out around the end of summer.

case...thats your own deal, haha.

IMO, a 1KW psu is wayyy overkill.

If anything get that 850w one (we are talking about pcpc right), but even that would be overkill.

The 7959GX2 runs in Quad SLI only with FEAR, currently. However, drivers will be released in the timespan of two months. So, I would wait for prices to fall and buy a second one of these killers then. :D

Really?

...First let me explain. Up until now we were using a Vantec 520A power supply in our graphics card testing station. This power supply was not SLI certified, but it did provide 28A to the 12V rail. Up until now it had worked just fine for single X1900 XTXs, single 7900 GTXs and even X1900 XTX CrossFire. However, once we installed two BFGTech 7900 GTX OC video cards in SLI we encountered some graphical corruption in F.E.A.R.This corruption only happened when we had SLI enabled. If we disabled SLI the game played great, with SLI the game had artifacts, poor performance and crashed. Working with NVIDIA the consensus was that power was the problem....

...NVIDIA contacted PC Power & Cooling to send us a hefty SLI certified power supply that would hopefully solve this problem. To our surprise and delight PC Power & Cooling sent us one of their brand new 1 Killowatt (1000 watts) Quad SLI power supply!...

...Thankfully this did fix the problem...

The 1KW PSU may be slight overkill and I'd be willing to bet that the 850W wouldn't give you any problems either, but you're going to have to drop some cash on a PSU for a Quad-SLI rig anyway, why not go for the best? Besides, the 1KW PCP&C is only $60 more than the 850W...

By the time the drivers for 7950GX2 Quad SLI are released, there'll probably be a G80 SLI setup out that will beat it. (Pure speculation, BTW.) I wouldn't buy anything for a Quad SLI setup until those drivers come out and you can be sure whether it's the best thing out there at that time.
