advise me whether

7950 GX2 can work in dell dimension 5150 PC,

whether we need a SLI compatible motherboard?

otherwise please suggest me a suitable Dual core Processor based System configuration

on which we can use this 7950 GX2

thanks

You won't need a SLI compatible motherboard. All you need is a bios update.

you should contact Dell support to ask if they'll have a bios update for 7950gx2. Mostly likely they will.

From the info l've gathered at the Dell's commmunity forum site. Dell will not release a newer bios to run a specific component up grade unless there is a problem with an issue where it effects the system's performance. The only system which can run 7950 now is the newer line XPS 700 series.

Yeah i think you are pretty much screwed. the 5150 cases are microbtx and as such do not support dual slot bracket cards since the pci-e x16 is the highest one (i have a microbtx machine too and i noticed that).

the 9150 i think it would fit in as it has an empty slot plate there.

for 9150 they still use intel 945 motherboard but i heard from nvidia that it support

only on intel 955X & 975X

i think 9150 also not compatible with 7950 graphics

thanks

cheer up man, nothing is lost :)

the 5150 will accept "so far" x1800XL series/7900GT series. But also it would require another upgrade for the power supply :Q
