My new system will be made up of 8 Sata 320 Gig Western digital drive in raid 5. I have one 400 gig sata that is the main os drive. The question is will my 600W Enermax PSU be able to power all this and my 7950gx2 at the same time. Any insight folks? The cpu is a core duo E6700😕

Thanks,

I would install a coal power plant in your case, that should get you enough power.

I would hope 600W would be enough, but they don't always put out 600W and they don't always put it in the right place (aka 600W is split among 3v 5v and 12v and there is no standard for how they are split). Without that info all anyone can do is guess.

Seriously, why not just spend $50 and get one of those dedicated GPU PSU's from ThermalTake?

ThermalTake GPU PSU

Especially since you have 9 HDD's... 😕

Figure 1 amp per drive and you're drawing 108 watts just to spin the HDD's

This thing is a relatively cheap investment to guarantee you won't be overstressing the PSU.
